[VOTE] Apache Accumulo 2.0.0-alpha-1-rc1

Christopher Tubbs-2
Accumulo Developers,

Please consider the following candidate for Apache Accumulo 2.0.0-alpha-1.

Note that an alpha release should satisfy all the usual ASF
requirements for copyright notices/license information. However, for
semantic versioning purposes, alpha denotes a preview release of what
is expected to come in 2.0.0, but without the API
stability/compatibility guarantees that come with other semver
releases. (https://semver.org/#spec-item-9).

The intent of this alpha is to provide a preview of what is to come in
2.0.0, and to solicit feedback from testing and evaluation which will
help us on our way to finalizing a 2.0.0 release in the near future.

If this vote passes, it should *NOT* be recommended for production
environments, and should only be used for testing and evaluation
purposes.

    9244e2c13266a50f3645913ee0a881a58784f029
Branch:
    2.0.0-alpha-1-rc1

If this vote passes, a gpg-signed tag will be created using:
    git tag -f -m 'Apache Accumulo 2.0.0-alpha-1' -s rel/2.0.0-alpha-1 \

In reply to this post by Christopher Tubbs-2
Just as it has been for previous votes, it's a placeholder that is usually
worked on throughout the voting period. I should have time tonight to work
on it. Mostly, I expect the alpha release notes to be a brief explanation
of what an alpha is (similar to my explanation on this thread) and a link
to the draft 2.0.0 notes, which continue to be a work in progress.

On Oct 14, 2018 10:35, "Ed Coleman" <[hidden email]> wrote:

Hopefully a quick question - is the link for the release notes a
placeholder - or is it expected to be available now?  When I go to
https://accumulo.apache.org/release/accumulo-2.0.0-alpha-1/

I just get a not found exception.

I'll continue with my check, so far commit checksum is good and mvn clean
verify -Psunny has passed - just need to check the signatures - but my +1
should follow shortly.

Re: [VOTE] Apache Accumulo 2.0.0-alpha-1-rc1

In reply to this post by Christopher Tubbs-2
+1

I made some update to the 2.0.0 WIP release notes to cover more of the
features added.

https://accumulo.apache.org/release/accumulo-2.0.0/

My changes :

https://github.com/apache/accumulo-website/commit/65a48e69a7644e5b6ab54ed732785a98f22907dd

For this updates I added two liquid tags for linking to issues, making
linking to Jira and Github issues much easier.

Re: [RESULT][VOTE] Apache Accumulo 2.0.0-alpha-1-rc1

Christopher Tubbs-2
Completed release tasks:

merge "-next" branch into master
create signed release tag
upload release artifacts to SVN dist/release
release Maven staging repo
update release info in reporter.apache.org

Completed website updates:

update _config.yml
update doap
update _includes/nav.html
update downloads page
update javadocs
update release notes

I believe the only thing left is to announce, but please feel free to
check and double-check these tasks. We can announce tomorrow (Monday).
It's already quite late for me.
