[jira] [Created] (ACCUMULO-668) first index block reader not closed in RFile

JIRA jira@apache.org
Adam Fuchs created ACCUMULO-668:
-----------------------------------

Summary: first index block reader not closed in RFile
                 Key: ACCUMULO-668
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ACCUMULO-668
             Project: Accumulo
          Issue Type: Bug
            Reporter: Adam Fuchs

If an RFile is read without index caching, the reader it uses does not get closed. We saw this happen in an RFile unit test, where several Decompressors were not being returned to the CompressorPool. Inside of BCFile.Reader.Reader(...) the cachedDataIndex object never gets closed. The object eventually gets garbage collected, which frees up the resources, but it should be closed to properly return its Decompressor to the pool. This probably has little or no effect on any running instance, but it is nonetheless a bug.
